Guest Friendly Bangkok Hotels

My Top 5 Picks For Guest Friendly Hotels in Bangkok
Guest friendly, girl friendly and no joiner fees are terms that typically refer to a hotel in Bangkok that do not charge extra fees for bringing an unregistered guest into your room, even if you booked for two.
I find that hotels that charge joiner fees are promoting unfair business practices. In my opinion it is a way for greedy hotel owners to make a bit of extra money.
The good news is that there are plenty of accommodations in Bangkok that will not charge a joiner's fee. From budget rates to the best 4 star luxury hotels, you'll find my personal review and what I like about each hotel below. The majority of guest friendly hotels in Bangkok are located along Sukhumvit road. In the area you will find plenty of restaurants and pubs that are mostly popular among the tourist, expat community and well to do Thai yuppies.
The hotel reservation company I've been using to book my rooms is called Agoda.com. I'm sure you've come across their website before while searching for hotels in Bangkok.
The rates you see here will give you a general guideline on what kinds of room rates you can expect.
1. Ambassador Hotel Bangkok
Average room rate: 1700THB
The Ambassador Hotel in Bangkok is a uniquely shaped building right in the commercial district of Sukhumvit. It's also one of the best guest friendly hotels in Bangkok.
What makes this hotel my #1 pick? To start off the Ambassador Hotel is very clean. The rooms are well maintained by the hardworking housekeeping crew and to me the staff are very professional. The beds are nice and comfortable for my taste and the bathrooms are a decent size for a big guy like me.
Next, the location of the Ambassador Hotel is ideal and strategically positioned for nightlife action. It's close to popular clubs and bars nearby and if that's not enough, check out the the parking basement below where you'll find the new Climax Club. A very popular pick up joint with great live music and entertainment.
If that's still not enough for you then the Sky Train station is just a few minutes away. Just hop on and you can visit places such as Patpong easily.
You can also walk to Soi Cowboy, it would take about 5-10 minutes, but it's best to take a taxi or a tuk tuk since it's so cheap.
The final reason is because the Ambassador Hotel is a really good value and I'm really surprised that it doesn't cost more. This hotel is not only my #1 choice but many of my friends and tourist as well.
Nana Hotel Room
2. Nana Hotel Bangkok
Average room rate: 1450THB
The Nana Hotel in Bangkok is definitely not the sort of hotel you'd take your girlfriend or a family to. I'm not saying this because the rooms are bad, I'm saying this because this hotel is right in the heart of the beast. Just outside in the parking lot is a freelance supermarket.
Hundreds of freelance prostitutes are out here just after 9pm looking and waiting for customers. If that's not enough for you then head right across the street to Nana Entertainment Plaza. It's a small four story building filled to the brim with go-go bars and pubs. The vicinity of the hotel is not short on action. Especially downstairs in the lobby where you will find Angel Disco. The last time I was there, the entry fee is 300THB with two coupons for drinks. Ladies can go in for free. It's worth it to watch some really pretty girls dance.
This hotel is also close to the Nana Sky Train station which can take you to other sight quickly and cheap.
The Nana Hotel definitely gets top marks for night life action. But the room quality may become a problem as well as the poor customer service most people receive from hotel staff. But if you're the sort that can deal with such short comings then this hotel is right choice for you.
Inside the Opal Suite of Grand President
3. Grand President Hotel Bangkok
Average room rate: 1999THB
The Grand President Hotel in Bangkok has very nice clean rooms and a wide variety of room types. My personal choice is the Opal Studio which is a basic standard room. Ask for the room in Tower 3 during check in because the rooms are newer as of writing. It's the only room typed I stayed in and to me it's really comfortable. The bedroom area is small, maybe because of the small kitchen to the side. The bathroom however, is a very decent size and clean.
The location of this hotel is pretty good. There are a lot of great clubs and bars nearby to sit, chill and people watch. And if you're looking for some pick up action there are plenty of freelancers on Sukhumvit road. And if you want even more choices just take a walk to Nana Entertainment Plaza or through the parking lot of Nana Hotel.
Still not enough for you. Then hop on the Sky Train at Nana station just a short 5 minute walk away.
My Video on Le Fenix
4. Le Fenix Sukhumvit Bangkok
Average room rate: 2000THB
The Le Fenix Sukhumvit Bangkok is the only hotel I recommend here that is the furthest away from the main stretch of Sukhumvit road. But it's not a big deal since the hotel provides a free tuk tuk ride to the main street. Otherwise it may take you 10-15 minutes to get to Sukhumvit road by walking.
The major advantage of this hotel is that it's near a lot of up and coming bars and clubs. And there are a few tried true and tested hangouts such as Q Bar and Bed Supperclub really close by.
Now bear in mind most of the clubs in these areas are frequented by higher class freelancers. Another words they demand more money. Now I'm only here to write about guest friendly hotels and not about how beautiful the woman are as beauty is in the eye of the beholder as the saying goes.
La Fenix is a new hotel. I think they opened around 2006 or 2007 but everything inside this hotel is very modern and new. A very nice place to stay indeed.
Majestic Grande
5. Majestic Grande Sukhumvit
Average room rate: 2800THB
I stayed in the Majestic Grande Sukhumvit hotel when it first opened some time back in 2006. Back then the rates were half of what they charged today. The rooms here are really nice and super modern. The rooms here are kind of small so don't let the hotels picture fool you. Still it's very nice and comfortable. The staff I found here are really professional and most speak decent amount of English.
The location is a real plus too as it's close to Nana Entertainment Plaza and the Nana Hotel parking lot, less then a 5 minute walk east. Just right across the street from the hotel's entrance is Annie's Sauna and Massage. It's one of those joints where you get bathed and massaged with a happy ending. Personally I've never been inside because I heard it's not worth it from my friends who've tried. So I can't comment on them.
However, the Majestic Grande Sukhumvit is a real nice place. The only reason why it's #5 is because it's the most expensive. If you can afford it then go ahead and stay here as its quite worth it.
Conclusion
Remember, most hotels in Bangkok that have a guest friendly policy are really popular for obvious reasons. So you should book a room at least two weeks in advance during the low season.
It is best to book a hotel room from a hotel reservation agency rather than booking through a hotel's website directly. Check for yourself and you will find that by booking directly you will see prices as high as 50%. I recommend visiting Agoda.com, a reputable hotel reservation agency in Bangkok. They are able to provide instant room availability as well as confirmation so you can book a room last minute. And best of all they offer a best rate guarantee so you can feel confident that you are getting the best room rate.
