Guest Friendly Budget Hotels in Bangkok

I know the phrase 'Guest Friendly Hotel' may sound strange. After all, aren't hotels supposed to be friendly to their guests?

But in Bangkok, guest friendly hotels refer to establishments that allow their registered guest to bring in a companion for either a short time or overnight stay. Usually the companion is someone the guest met in any of Bangkok's red light districts such as a bargirl or freelancer.

You may have also heard the term girl friendly. But since there are companions that comprise not only of ladies but transsexuals called lady boys the term guest friendly has covers them all.

If you booked a non-guest friendly hotel in Bangkok then chances are you'll be stopped by security along with your companion. You will be unceremoniously taken over to reception where you are presented with a bill to pay a joiner fee of 500 THB - 1500 THB, depending on the hotel. So if you made the mistake of booking a hotel that isn't guest friendly then you've probably ruined your holiday plans along with your budget. Plus it can get pretty embarrassing.

Guest friendly hotels in Bangkok range from the poshest expensive accommodations such as the JW Marriott to budget hotels such as the Nana Hotel, which are practically on the same block. And both of these hotels are only a block away from Nana Entertainment Plaza, a popular 3 story building filled with go-go bars.

I'm going to focus on the budget end of guest friendly hotels in Bangkok in this hub. As of writing the global economy stinks so it would make sense. But if you've never stayed in a budget hotel in Bangkok you're going to be pleasantly surprised on how much value you're going to get. You're definitely going to be even more happy that you can spend the money you save on your hotel bill on Thai massages and beer.

The budget hotels listed here are located in the area of Sukhumvit. There are much more places to find ladies here in this area than anywhere else in Bangkok. On the map above I only listed the most popular places where you can find go-go bars and freelancers. But starting from 9pm you can find dozens of ladies starting from the Nana Hotel parking lot down to Soi Cowboy.

Sukhumvit is a prime location in Bangkok because it's full of international restaurants, bars and clubs with lots to do and see. Another reason why Sukhumvit is such a good area because you have easy access to the rest of central Bangkok through the BTS Sky Train which runs right about Sukhumvit road. Just keep in mind the trains operate from 6am to 12 am. Traffic is horrendous during rush hours and especially night time so plan accordingly.

The Majestic Suites in Bangkok is probably one of the most sought after rooms in Bangkok. The quality of their rooms and service is high for the amount you pay. But their formula is simple. Charge low rates and maintain high standards equals a hotel that is popular and overbooked. Plus the location doesn't hurt either because you're right in front of the busy road of Sukhumvit and the Nana BTS Sky Train isn't too far away.

Their studio rooms are tiny but if you're traveling alone it's fine. But if you're the claustrophobic type then you should spring for the superior rooms. All rooms have electronic safe and most importantly, at least for me that is, guests have access to Wi-Fi Internet.

There's no gym or pool here at the Majestic Suites. If those facilites are important to you then check out the Woraburi Sukhumvit Hotel and Resort below.

The Woraburi Sukhumvit Hotel & Resort is located down the quiet end of Sukhumvit Soi 4, yet only 10 minutes walk away from the neon glow of Nana Entertainment Plaza. I wouldn't really call this hotel a "Resort", but I guess it's as close as any when you're in a crowded city.

It's a pretty big hotel however. It has two restaurants and two pools. Pools are a really nice amenity to have especially in Bangkok where it gets really hot and humid as hell.

There's no in room safe except safety deposit boxes at the front desk. And rooms do have Internet access.

Overall this place is very well maintained and the rooms are very clean for the price. The standard rooms are small but to me still very comfortable and worth the price they charge.

This is probably one of the oldest classic examples of a guest friendly hotel in Bangkok. Yes I mentioned the hotel is old but the rooms here are still mostly booked because this hotel is located right in the heart of the beast.

There's the Nana Entertainment Plaza just right across the street, freelancers hanging out in the parking lot of the hotel, and if that's not enough there's a disco club right in the lobby where ladies go in for free.

What more could you ask for??

As I mentioned before the hotel is old but it's maintained as best as possible the housekeeping. The rooms were renovated I think back in 2007 but I haven't seen much difference. Maybe because of different rooms.

There is a decent pool on the fourth floor but there are not enough sun beds so you should get to the pool early if it's important. The Nana Hotel also has free daily international newspapers.

Swiss Park hotel is another older hotel option on this list. But the location and the price of the rooms still attract lots of tourists from all over the world. As you can see on the map it's still very close to a lot of night life activities and most importantly its guest friendly.

If you really like Indian food like I do try out some of the restaurants outside like Mrs. Balbirs. It's kind of pricey for Thai standards but the taste is authentic.

The only guest facilities is a decent pool on the roof, though it's small and the sun chairs are few.

Even though the hotel is old the rooms are well maintained and the furniture has been updated at least 5 years ago. The room size is actually decent and quite spacious but the bathrooms are a little drab.

The Salil Hotel is one of the newer hotels in Sukhumvit. Just located on Soi 8 on Sukhumvit Road. There is a free complimentary hotel tuk tuk that will take you to the main road if you don't feel like walking. I prefer the stroll, but that's just me.

The hotel design looks like something straight out of a European architectural magazine and is devoid of any Thai charms. But the hotel still has its own unique flavor. I mean really who cares as long as the room is clean and the bed is comfortable right?

The rooms are fairly decent in size and all have flat screen televisions, in room safe. There is Wi-Fi access in the rooms but you have to pay extra.

Just opened last year the Dawin Bangkok's rates will not remain at the 1780THB level for that long. I've noticed that all new hotels in Bangkok always open with promotion rates and gradually hike them up slowly.

The Dawin Bangkok is a very modern and classy hotel. There is a small pool for guest to use. The rooms here are small but I'm never bothered by it as long as the rooms is clean and the beds are very comfortable. There's free Wi-Fi Internet access. Overall the Dawin Bangkok is a very good choice.

As you can see on the map the Dawin Bangkok is located in an ideal location for night life activities.
