Sacha's Hotel Uno in Bangkok Review

Sacha's Hotel Uno - Right in the Heart of Bangkok
The perks of being the welcome mat in Bangkok for visiting friends from all over the world is that I get to check out a large variety of hotels throughout the city. Since most of my friends are single males they always choose to stay in hotels that are near the red light districts. Particularly ones that are guest or girl friendly. What this means is that they are able to bring a companion they meet in a go go bar or wherever back to their rooms without getting charged a joiner's fee. Which is the main reason why they chose to stay at Sacha's Hotel Uno.
Just this past week I checked out the hotel while picking them up for a day time tour of the city. It's located in the Sukhumvit district and just 200 metres from Sukhumvit road. Sukhumvit district is a very popular neighborhood with a large expat community with a large variety of local and international restaurants, department stores and services that cater to their needs.
Sukhumvit district is also where you'll find 2 out of 3 red light hot spots called Nana and Soi Cowboy. My friends who were staying in Sacha's Hotel Uno favored Soi Cowboy, which is just a 10 minute walk away.
Since Sacha's Hotel Uno is located in the busy section of Sukhumvit road they were only a 10 minute walk to Asok BTS Sky Train station as well as the MRT underground trains. And if you don't feel like walking the hotel provides a free tuk tuk service for their guests. Matter of fact the driver will even take you to Soi Cowboy as well saving you that 10 minute walk.
Staying here is extremely convienent. The hotel is near the MRT and BTS Sky Train station so you won't have a problem getting around to explore Bangkok and all that it has to offer.
The Room Quality
Sacha's Hotel Uno was built in late 2008, so it's basically a brand new hotel with a lot of modern room functions and style. It's rated as a 3.5 star hotel which is just about right. The hotel is geared towards business guests as well as leisure travelers in Bangkok.
Several of my friends stayed in the deluxe rooms which is in the main building where the reception desk for checking in is located. The superior rooms are located in an annex building nearby. So I had a good opportunity to take a look at several different varying room types. There are standard rooms available too but none of my friends booked one so I didn't have the chance to explore one. But whenever someone does I'll add a review of a standard room next time around.
And of course all the rooms are air conditioned, my friends wouldn't even consider staying here if it wasn't.
Superior Rooms
The superior rooms are a decent size about 25 sqm. with nice modern decor, a big and comfortable king sized bed. The floors here are a type of faux wood material which I prefer any day over carpet (it hides a lot of stains). If you're a big guy the bathroom might be a little bit tight, though the toilet is wide enough and the shower stall has ample room. There's a rain shower with good water pressure to wake you up from a night of binge drinking.
Deluxe Rooms
Deluxe rooms here are about 28 sqm. though one room was slightly smaller most likely due to the building's configuration. It has the similar king sized bed as well. But the major difference between a superior room and deluxe room is the bigger bathroom and multimedia functionality. What's also cool is if you have notebook computer you can connect it to the 32" flat screen television so you can surf the web or watch you own personal movies on the big screen.
The whole building has Wi-Fi access and Internet connection is free for all guests. I also like the fact that they have pneumatic office chairs, the ones where you can adjust the height of the seat up and down. If you're tall like my friends and I than you'd understand and appreciate a decent office style chair.

Conclusion
Sacha's Hotel Uno is good choice if you want to stay in central Bangkok near all the girlie bars and other adultainment establishments the city is famous for. The oily massage district is just one stop away on the Sky Train.
I wouldn't put this hotel in the budget range. But it's definitely affordable and priced accordingly. My friends paid 2,200 baht for a superior room and 2,800 baht for a deluxe room with taxes included. Breakfast was not included in the rates. Though one of my friends did book a room including breakfast and according to him it wasn't worth the extra money. But to be fair to the hotel my friend is a picky eater with the attitude of a Michelin chef.
I don't recommend booking the rooms directly at Sacha's Hotel Uno's website. As you can see on their website, the cheapest room which is a standard room is quoted at 3,100 baht. Instead my friends made their room reservations at Agoda.com and got a superior room for 2,200 baht. Agoda is a company that provides hotel discount reservations throughout the world (though specializes in Thailand) and I've been recommending them to my friends and family for years. I'm sure you've probably come across their name while doing your travel research on Bangkok hotels.
There are many local Thai restaurants nearby with cheap yet tasty food. Heck there's even a McDonald's right around the corner and many other International fast food restaurants nearby. Better yet check out the food court in Robinson's Department store for a wide range of international cuisine all in spot with plenty of seating.
There's no fitness center and no swimming pool. I know most don't care whether those facilities are available or not but to some it does. From what I could see and what my friends told me, Sacha's is a small very well run hotel with an emphasis on cleanliness and customer satisfaction. And my friends were definitely well satisfied.
Overall they didn't have any complaints at all during their 1 week stay. The hotel staff were helpful and communication in English wasn't a problem. And their rooms were cleaned every morning very quickly even though my friends are really messy.
